Village Development Trust

There has been a village trust for over 10 years in Darnick.  Initially the group was primarily concerned with environmental issues but more recently the organisation has simplified its legal status and broadened its remit and areas of interest.

The Darnick Village Development Trust (DVDT) now has responsibility for the provision of the village Christmas tree and lighting and supports the involvement of the village in the local summer Melrose Festival.  It organises a range of social activities in the Smith Memorial Hall, including social evenings, drama performances, musical events, talks and storytelling. The Trust is also able to facilitate and enable new interest groups to form and operate for the benefit of residents, such as the recently established table tennis club.  The DVDT also manages and maintains the village website.

Anyone can be a member of the Trust, which is managed by a small group of local volunteer Directors listed below and you are welcome to contact any member of the Board if you wish.

The DVDT welcome pack, full of interesting information about the village, organisations and activities, is now available for distribution to new arrivals in the village. If you have a new neighbour, relative or friend recently arrived in Darnick please let us know.

  1. Steve Skibniewski-Woods

Hello. My name is Steve Skibniewski-Woods and I lived in Darnick Tower as a boy from 1948 to 1958. I have fond memories of the village and of the Tower. My mother was the house-keeper for the Carpendales who lived there. If anybody remembers me I’d be delighted to hear from them. Occasionally,I quietly visit the village for old times sake and absolutely love it. A lot of good things have been done, this web site being one. Thanks
